How it works

A quick run every day. One skill at a time.

  1. 1

    Play the Daily.

A quick run with three hearts. String right answers together and the questions get harder and the points multiply.

  2. 2

    Miss one, learn why.

Every question is tagged by domain and skill, and every answer comes with an explanation.

  3. 3

    Drill that skill.

Practice any single skill at any difficulty, or just the questions you got wrong.

  4. 4

    Beat your best.

Come back tomorrow and climb. Progress shows your accuracy and your strongest skills.

Built on the digital SAT blueprint.

Every question is tagged by section, domain, skill and difficulty, so you can practice exactly what you need. Full tests run like test day: two Reading & Writing modules, a break, then two Math modules.

Explanations

Every answer, explained.

Not just the right letter: how to get there, and why the tempting answer is wrong.

MathProblem-Solving and Data AnalysisHard

A store raises the price of a jacket by 20%. Later, it lowers the new price by 20%. The final price is what percent of the original price?

A80%
B96%Correct
C100%The trap
D104%

Check with $100: $100then$120then$96

  1. Turn each change into a multiplier.

    Up 20% means × 1.20. Down 20% means × 0.80.

  2. Apply them in order.

    1.20 × 0.80 = 0.96

  3. Read the answer.

The final price is 96% of the original. That’s B.

  4. Why not 100%?

The 20% cut is taken from the higher price, so it removes more than the 20% increase added.

98 questions across four modules, in the same order as the digital SAT: Reading & Writing Module 1 and Module 2 (27 questions each), a 10-minute break, then Math Module 1 and Module 2 (22 questions each). On official timing that’s 2 hr 14 min of testing. You get estimated section scores and a total at the end.

Yes. In the standard full-length tests, Module 2 of each section is the harder version if you get 60% or more of Module 1 right, and the easier version if you don’t. Challenge tests are built from harder material in every module.

Official timing, extended 1.5× time, or untimed, on every test, including the free ones. Extended time allows 48 minutes for each Reading & Writing module and about 52 for each Math module. Untimed removes the clock so you can focus on accuracy.

A quick run with three hearts. Each right answer builds your streak: the questions get harder as it grows, and your points multiply (×2 from three in a row, ×3 from six). A miss costs a heart and drops you back to easy. Best is your longest streak.

Scatterplots, Models, and Study Design

A scatterplot shows pairs of values as points. If the points rise from left to right, the association is positive; if they fall, it is negative. Points close to a line show a strong linear association; a loose cloud shows a weak one.

A line of best fit models the data. Use it to predict: substitute the input into its equation. Its slope is the predicted change in the output for each 1-unit increase in the input, and its intercept is the predicted output when the input is 0, which may or may not make sense in context.

A residual is actual value − predicted value. A positive residual means the point lies above the line; a negative residual means it lies below.

Sampling. A sample chosen at random from a population lets you generalize to that population, and only that population. Convenience samples (whoever is nearby) and voluntary responses (whoever chooses to answer) can be biased.

Cause. An association in observational data does not show that one variable causes the other. To support a cause-and-effect claim, a study must randomly assign subjects to treatments.

Worked example Easy

For a group of students, the line of best fit for test score ss and hours studied hh is s=4.5h+62s = 4.5h + 62. According to this model, what is the predicted test score for a student who studied for 8 hours?

  1. 3636
  2. 66.566.5
  3. 9898Answer
  4. 532532

How to solve it

  1. Substitute h=8h = 8: s=4.5(8)+62s = 4.5(8) + 62.
  2. 4.5×8=364.5 \times 8 = 36, and 36+62=9836 + 62 = 98.

Why each choice is right or wrong

  • A. Incorrect. 36 is 4.5×84.5 \times 8 without the intercept. Add 62 to get the prediction.
  • B. Incorrect. 66.5 is the prediction for 1 hour, 4.5+624.5 + 62. Multiply 4.5 by 8 hours.
  • C. Correct. s=4.5(8)+62=36+62=98s = 4.5(8) + 62 = 36 + 62 = 98.
  • D. Incorrect. 532 multiplies the whole expression by 8, (4.5+62)×8(4.5 + 62) \times 8. Only the slope is multiplied by the hours.

Worked example Medium

A student recorded the daily high temperature and the number of cups of lemonade sold at a stand on 8 days. The scatterplot shows the data and the line of best fit, y=3x−20y = 3x - 20, where xx is the temperature in degrees Celsius and yy is the number of cups sold.
Cups of lemonade sold versus daily high temperature, with the line of best fit1820222426283032343630405060708090High temperature (°C)Cups sold
Cups of lemonade sold versus daily high temperature, with the line of best fit Scatterplot with the horizontal axis showing daily high temperature from 18 to 36 degrees Celsius and the vertical axis showing cups sold from 30 to 90. The 8 points are (20, 41), (22, 45), (25, 57), (26, 56), (28, 66), (30, 64), (32, 80), and (34, 82). The line y = 3x − 20 rises through the points from (20, 40) to (34, 82).

On the day with a high temperature of 30°C, 64 cups were sold. What is the residual for that day, based on the line of best fit?

  1. −6-6Answer
  2. 66
  3. 6464
  4. 7070

How to solve it

  1. Predicted value: y=3(30)−20=70y = 3(30) - 20 = 70 cups.
  2. Residual = actual − predicted = 64−70=−664 - 70 = -6.
  3. The negative sign makes sense: the point (30, 64) lies below the line.

Why each choice is right or wrong

  • A. Correct. The line predicts 3(30)−20=703(30) - 20 = 70 cups, and 64−70=−664 - 70 = -6. The point lies 6 cups below the line.
  • B. Incorrect. 6 is predicted − actual, the subtraction in the wrong order. A residual is actual − predicted, so it is negative here.
  • C. Incorrect. 64 is the actual number of cups sold, not the residual. Subtract the predicted value, 70.
  • D. Incorrect. 70 is the predicted number of cups. The residual is the difference between the actual value and this prediction.

Trap Association is not causation

A strong association in observational data tempts you to pick a choice that says one variable causes or will increase the other. Without random assignment to treatments, the most you can say is that the variables tend to move together in the population that was sampled.

Trap Residual sign and "exactly"

Residual is actual minus predicted, in that order; points above the line have positive residuals. And a line of best fit gives predicted values: a choice saying each item changes by exactly the slope overstates what the model shows.

Calculator When a calculator isn’t faster

When the equation of the line is given, a prediction or residual is one substitution and one subtraction, faster by hand than typing.

When only the data are given, Desmos can find the line: enter the points in a table, then type y1∼mx1+by_1 \sim mx_1 + b to get the regression slope and intercept. Sampling and causation questions are about reasoning, not computation.

Full-length tests

Each test mirrors the digital SAT®: 98 questions across four modules, 2 hr 14 min on official timing.

A little harder on purpose. These tests can run slightly tougher than test day, which makes them good practice: if you can handle these, the real one should feel easier. No question appears in more than one test, Challenge Tests included.

Challenge Tests Hardest of the hardest

Same 98-question format, built from harder material: a hard Module 1, then a Module 2 made mostly of the hardest questions.
